How it works
We pull the official DVLA and DVSA records, cross-check them, and tell you in plain English whether the car is a clean buy. Here's the whole thing, start to finish.
Run a free check →Type the number plate. No account, no card, nothing to install. We look it up against the live DVLA and DVSA records straight away.
In about 10 seconds you get the everyday basics, plus a plain-English Buyer's Brief, our read of the record, not just the raw data.
When you're serious about a car, add the three checks that catch the costly mistakes. One-off charge, no subscription.
Selling instead of buying? Turn your full report into a verified link with a preview card, and paste it into your listing so buyers see the proof before they message.
The free check covers the everyday basics. The full report adds the three checks that catch the expensive mistakes.
Where the data comes from
Every figure on a report is traceable to an official source. We don't guess or estimate.
DVLA
Vehicle registration, tax cost and technical details.
DVSA
Full MOT test history, mileage and advisories.
MIAFTR
Insurance write-off and total-loss records.
PNC
Police National Computer stolen-vehicle markers.
Is the free check really free?
Yes. MOT history, mileage and tax cost are free with no account. You only pay if you want the finance, theft and write-off checks.
How current is the data?
We pull it live at the moment you check, and stamp every report with the exact time and date the data was read.
What if the car isn't clean?
You'll see it plainly. A caution or warning verdict spells out what was found and where, so you can walk away or negotiate with the facts.
Are you part of the government?
No. Kerbside Check is an independent company. We use official DVLA and DVSA data but are not affiliated with them or gov.uk.
